Head Gasket & Cylinder Headin Philadelphia
Overheating, white smoke, milky oil: the head gasket is a heavy job done right.

About this repair
The head gasket seals the combustion chambers, the oil passages and the coolant passages between the block and the head. When it fails, coolant and oil mix or burn. Fixing it means removing the head, checking it is flat and replacing the gasket and the parts that go with it.
Signs you need it
- White, sweet-smelling smoke from the exhaust
- Milky, light-brown oil or oil on the coolant cap
- Engine overheating, or coolant that keeps disappearing
- Bubbles in the coolant reservoir while the engine runs
Don't replace it. Repair it.
Before you replace the engine
A replacement is the most expensive answer, and not always the only one. A leaking gasket, a failed sensor, a worn timing part or a single damaged cylinder can look like a dead engine. We find the real cause first.

Common questions
Can I keep driving with a blown head gasket?
It is a bad idea. Overheating can warp or crack the head and ruin the engine. If you suspect a head gasket, stop driving it and have it checked.
Do sealer additives fix a head gasket?
At best they are a short-term gamble and can clog the cooling system. The lasting repair is to open the engine and replace the gasket properly.
